Graduated from the Department of architecture, Nanjing Institute of Technology (Southeast University) in 1956, Cheng Taining acts as the Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, National Engineering Survey and Design Master, Director, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of Architectural Design and Theoretical Research Center of Southeast University, Director of CCTN Design.
He has presided and designed more than 150 domestic and foreign projects and been awarded repeatedly on the national and provincial level since his work. In particular, Hangzhou Dragon Hotel and New Railway Station of Hangzhou were selected as “Chinese Classical Architecture of One Century”; Ghana National Theatre and Bamako Convention Center in the Republic of Mali were chosen into the Atlas of 20st Century World Architecture by UIA (In this atlas 1000 excellent works are chosen in 100 years in the world.). He was awarded the “Liang Sicheng Architecture Prize”-the highest award for Chinese architects in 2004.
He has stayed focus on the construction of the architectural design theory system of Chinese characteristics, and published Interview Record about Cheng Taining - Architecture Academician, Collected Works of Cheng Taining, Language and Spiritual Intention and other works. He also has published many papers, and is world-renowned. He is the first Chinese architect included into the world master architect series in the “Master Series”of “Cheng Taining Architecture”, books by The Images Publishing Group Pty Ltd.
